Well we started the week of Aug 21 out by flying during the eclipse…turns out you couldn’t see it from the airplane.
But once we were on the ground we got a picture of it in progress. Not very impressive…anyway, we were sharing a car so we waited in an airport lounge for the next couple to arrive. It was very nice!
Here you can see Erika relaxing in these quite comfortable chairs we found in SFO. Driving into the city we went across the Golden Gate Bridge, which was beautiful and cloudy as expected.
And the scenery ahead disappeared into the sky.
Once we were in to the city of Petaluma we stopped for a stroll along the (Russian?) river, which was quite beautiful.
On Tuesday we went to a few of the wineries, which was quite nice. The scenery was beautiful at the vineyards, and the weather was perfect!
This thing was pretty interesting…
The group kept moving and we ended up having dinner in downtown Santa Rosa.
There were Peanuts statues everywhere as Charles Schulz was from the city. Very pretty!
Later that week we went to the California Redwood Reserve state park. It was majestic — amazing some of these trees are over 1,000 years old!! Here’s a few of the (many) pictures I took.
This was the oldest tree in the park, and named after an early conservationist.
Above and below were some of our friends we visited the park with…and in the one above visited the inside of a tree with…Very fun! You can see all of our blue shoes…not suede though!
The size of these things was unbelievable. Very thankful I got to see them in person.
