We decided on a late winter trip over through San Diego and I just wanted to share a few pictures since there are some good ones!
After driving after work, we got to our hotel and checked in. We were staying at the US Grant in San Diego, which had an AMAZING tuna melt (more on that later).
The next morning we got up and went on a rather long walk through the city to Balboa Park. Along the way we caught some of the sites
We finally made it into the park, which was HUGE! We took a picture upon walking in but later you’ll see it just kept going and going. Very nice planning to have a large park right next to your downtown area – a must in my mind!
We made our way around eventually to the main area with the Spanish buildings and museums. You can see it here as we’re crossing the Cabrillo Bridge.
We decided to go to the Japanese Friendship Garden while we were there, as we missed it last time. It was built as a project between San Diego and it’s sister city, Yokohama, Japan.
We walked around and enjoyed the sights. I took about a million pictures while we were here, so I think I’ll just include them below in a couple galleries.
Alright here’s just a couple more. Like I said…a ton of pictures!
Hopefully the above block works out and you can see one of the fish bubbling his way through the pond, haha. Also if you look closely you can see another one of the waterfall pictures I snuck in there. It was a very cool spot and I got quite a few shots!
After leaving the park we went and had dinner at a local sushi place, I think we were in the mood (but we didn’t eat any koi fish, hah!). The next day we drove up (over?) to Coronado and it was very windy! But we decided to go for a walk along the water anyway as it was still beautiful and we don’t have much water to look at in Las Vegas!
As we were walking along we were trying to figure out what the weird green shapes were. Like they weren’t wave breaks or anything as they were way too far inland, but also they were in strange configurations. I pulled out my phone and wouldn’t you know…
We kept walking (to the southeast it looks like from my map!) along the beach front and were pleased to find that it was not busy at all. We were not pleased with the temperature OR the wind though. It was getting quite chilly the longer we dallied.
This is the famous Hotel del Coronado, built in 1888 and once the largest resort in the world. It has a very Victorian style and sits right on the beach!
As we made our way back we walked around the individual bungalows that are available for family visits. Not a bad way to spend a couple days if you ask me 😀
Before we headed off to the car we stopped for one more view and saw this beautiful image on our way out!
Thanks for reading!
